Events (rides) should be scheduled to begin an end in a location that creates no conflict.
It's not a good idea for a heard of loud bikes to show up in a neighborhood driveway at 7am...
A good place to begin a ride would be a public park or any public area where there is a parking lot large enough to accomodate the amount of riders you are expecting. (Check with your local park authority to see if permission or permits are required for groups over a certain size).
It is a good idea to have a location at your destination which will also have an area large enough to accomodate the number of riders that will be arriving...
If you are planning on making your destination be a restaurant or bar... it is a good idea to call ahead and make arrangements with the business so they are not overwhelmed when you arrive. Ask them if they have a particular area in the parking lot that they can reserve for your group or simply a place they would prefer you parked upon arrival. (This might also be a good time to negotiate a group discount in exchange for bringing them business that they might not normally get that day.)
Above all, keep in mind the safety of the riders that will be joining your group and the saefty of the traffic which will encounter your group. Pick a meeting area that has easy access both in and out of the area without having to worry speeding traffic or blind corners where accidents could happen.
Let's all work together to make each and every event a safe and fun experience!
